Chat (beta)

Chat answers questions about your own records, such as “what did I do yesterday?” or “how long did I work on Northstar this week?”. It is a beta on Mac and Windows: open Chat in the sidebar.

Choose where answers come from in the menu under the input.

  • Codex and Claude Code use the CLI you already installed and signed in to on this computer. Answers count toward that plan. Next to the connection, pick a model and how hard it should think.
  • Drifty Cloud needs a signed-in account with a trial or Pro. Each question uses credits based on the model and its actual usage. Settings › Account shows what is left and when it renews.

If a CLI is missing, the menu marks it as not installed. Install it, sign in once in a terminal, and come back.

Type a question, or pick a suggested task under the input. Type / to see every task. After an answer, follow-up questions appear under it.

Each answer folds the record lookups it made into one line you can open. Copy, rate or ask again with the buttons under the answer. Chats stay on this computer; open past ones from History in the top right.

Chat replies in the language you chose for drifty.

Click the paperclip, drop files anywhere on the drifty window, or paste them to attach up to five PDF, Word (.docx) or text files. Their text is read on this computer and sent with your question to the connection you picked.

The assistant reads records only through drifty’s read-only tools on this computer. Your question, text extracted from attached documents and the records it checks go to the connection you picked: your Codex or Claude account, or Anthropic through Drifty Cloud. Window titles from record lookups are included only when Window title is on in the AI privacy settings, and those lookups never include full URLs.

When you’re signed in with Usage statistics on, drifty also keeps finished chats to improve the product. Turn Usage statistics off in Settings › Privacy and drifty’s servers keep no chats. See Privacy & Data Boundaries.
